We got new passports. The reservations are made with the old ones.
I don’t want to show up at the airport and not be able to get on the plane due to a mismatch.
So, I tried to update it on their web site.
Won’t work.
Tried their chat bot. It said I had to call.
I called and was told "we’re too busy to talk to you" and hung up on.
Five times over 90 minutes.
The 6th time, it didn’t hang up on me, but put me on hold.
For 53 minutes.
Then, a nice young man did fix the issue fairly quickly.
Once I hung up, they called me back with a customer service poll to see how happy I was.
Morons.

Calling my mother and brother
Dec. 16th, 2022 02:34 pmAfter I confirmed my sister’s death, I needed to tell my mother and brother.
I don’t get along with either. I try and avoid my mother. I had not spoken with my brother since our father’s memorial service 22 years ago.
But, they deserved to know my sister had died.
My sister was 14 when my mother married my father, and their relationship was always stereotypical step-mother/step-daughter like, even if I’m sure my mother would resent my saying that.
So, I dialed that phone number I haven’t used since my father died in 2000. My phone says the following call was 3 minutes long. It seemed longer.
It turns out my cousin Carolyn has not yet died, but I thought she had at the time of this call.
I’m writing down what I remember for future reference.

January 6th
Jan. 7th, 2021 04:44 amI've got a lot of strong feels about yesterday's events at the capitol of my country.
Not good ones.
But, I don't have the words right now.
One of the things that really bothers me is how it ended.
"Looks like they're going off to Olive Garden for dinner now," one commentator said on CNN as they started to disperse about the time it got dark.
If you commit treason through armed sedition and assault a branch of government, you should not get endless breadsticks at the end of the day.
You need to be in jail.

Wednesday's comic
Oct. 21st, 2020 08:20 pmI was so mad about this. Doubly so as my boss wouldn't actually show me the complaint, just give me his summation of it.
There had been no making fun of people. No laughing at people writing the change. Just me showing my coworker the problem and saying how it had to be fixed.
I ended up hacking my boss' computer to get a copy of that email...

Monday's comic
Sep. 28th, 2020 07:43 pmI remember how mad I was when I found the suit she bought me on the list of things I had to pay back. She offered to buy me that suit when I needed a job. And, every choice there was for it she said "get the better choice, after all I'm paying for it". I never would have bought the more expensive options if I had known I was footing the bill.
I guess I should be happy I was only charged prime rate on interest instead of credit card rates...

My laptop appears to have died.
I got the "please update your system files" message and hit "OK".
It came back with the "your hard drive is damaged and can not be repaired. Please erase it, reinstall your system files and restart the computer."
But I can't get the system instal disks to run on it.
So, I'm worried that the hard drive is toast.
Sad.
This is not the first time it has happened. So, I know the drill.
But, I am not happy about it.
