As we like to do, we went to Florida for my cousin’s birthday on the 24th. Since her mother died last year and her father has been alone, we wanted to make sure we went this year to cheer them up. Last year we came down with Covid just before the trip and had to miss, so this year we were doubly intent on going.
Saturday morning we left about 6:30 and drive into Boston.

The parking at the Boston airport is expensive. I’m not sure why they think elves and gingerbread folks will improve this…

We had trouble getting through security because the reservation had the year my wife was born wrong. It was down the same as me. Maybe I did that. It’s possible.
We had to get out of line, go to the JetBlue desk, get it fixed and go back.
But, that is why we get there early.
Strongly I met my boss and his wife while we were in line. They were going off to visit their family too.
We still managed to get to the gate before the plane did.

When boarding the plane they came on the PA and said "The FAA is going to implement special traffic rules very soon and we need to get in the air before it happens. Sit down, buckle up and we will try and get off the ground before it happens."
We took off just as the clock hit the limit.

We landed in Orlando an hour early. But, because of that, our gate wasn’t ready and we had to sit at the end of a runway for almost an hour. This was made worse because no one was allowed to get up and use the bathroom or such in that time.
Then, the plane that was supposed to leave to make us space broke down.
It was not a happy passenger group.

We were finally brought to a gate and got off in the new Terminal C.

But, we did get to my cousins.

Monday evening we were flying home. The planes were much less crowded, which was nice.

But, getting to them was a major problem.
As when we had flown down security rejected my wife’s getting on the plane as it said the reservation had her birth year wrong. I explained I had fixed that two days before, then sent us back anyhow.
JetBlue said "no, we fixed that Saturday", and sent us to security again.
The process repeated.
Finally with printed boarding passes instead of electronic ones, they let us through.
People often tell me they think I get to the airport too early, but we had time to get through that and still make our flight. If we cut it closer, we may not have.
The flight north was bumpy the whole way, so they never shut off the fasten seatbelt light.
And, when we landed, the jet bridge didn’t work and took 15 minutes to get in place.
At the end of that, I really, really, really had to go to the bathroom.
The folks in front of me had two small kids, one of whom was asleep across the seats.
"Excuse me," I said. "I really need the bathroom, can I get ahead of you while you wake up your kids?"
"No. Wait your turn," the man said. "It will only add a minute or two to your time."

The man is scum.
I did make it to the bathroom in time, but it was quite close and very painful. His total unwillingness to be kind really makes me mad.
The night was very foggy, but we got home before midnight and watched the new Doctor Who episode.
