The politics of the last week have reminded me of a comic from 29 years ago I particularly liked:

Doctor Fate is a magic using superhero from the same universe as Batman and Superman. Most often the character is male. But, for a few issues about 30 years ago, the wife of the main character becomes the wizard and she does things differently than he used to.

Because of this, she gets summoned to testify in front of Congress who is worried about what she’ll do.

She ends up getting mad at them.

And, turns them into newts.

"Anyone who accepted bribes, abused their offices or shows abject political cowardice" gets turned into a newt.

I’m not after Batman or Superman to show up and save the world.
But, I could use some Doctor Fate these days…
