Tonight I got a call from Toyota about extending the warrantee on the car we got 3 1/2 years ago.
The woman asked for my wife, but I explained I am the primary driver.
"Our records say you chose not to extend the warrantee. Why is that?" she asked.
"I really don’t feel I need it."
"You’ve got to talk to my manager!"
"Wait!" I started, but was too late. The music began.
A minute or so later a man came on.
"Sir, why don’t you want to extend your warrantee?" he asked.
"I do not believe it is the best investment in this car. I’m afraid I have spent as much time on this as I’m going to tonight, so I’m going to end this call."
"I can’t believe you’d just hang up on me…" he said as I pushed "end".

10 seconds later my phone rang again.
"DON’T I GET TO SAY ANYTHING!??!" he shouted at me.
"NO! You don’t!" I shouted back. "You’ve wasted enough of my time and my time is worth a lot of money to me. Goodbye!"
I hit end again.
He didn’t try a third time.

This annoys me almost as much as the Sirius XM woman who told me I was wrong for not liking her radio service. (http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/614651.html )

My wife was surprised that I got angry over this.
Maybe things are getting to me more this week.
But, it did make me mad.

I like my car. I really do.
But, those things around it (radio, warrantee and service) really annoy me.


Edit: They just called again. I guess they don't know about caller ID as I didn't pick up.
I did enter a complaint against them on the Toyota corporate site...

Holy crap, he called back when you hung up on him?

See, that might have pissed me off enough to demand to talk to HIS manager.

Good on you for complaining to Toyota, that's pretty damned close to harassment.

How is harassing your customers going to "land that sale"?!

I don't get it.

My mom would get so bent out of shape from telemarketers calling us. But they very rarely called back right after [we]
hung up on them. So don't take it personally, as hard as that seems to do.

Sorry you had to waste your time filing a complaint to corporate. I hope it gets down the pile.

i'm pretty shocked they tried that hard. granted, Hondas and Toyotas are fairly reliable enough and extended warranties are likely a hard sell, and they supposedly make money on them, but to be rude to a customer is way counter-productive. GAH.

The third time they call is when you pick up your wife's cell phone, put them on speaker, record the whole thing, post it on YouTube and let the world collectively lift a leg on them. See, that's how Comcast learned a few things.

I get angry about these sorts of things, too. Had a terrible Sirius call myself a few months ago. Interested to see if that extended warranty company calls again!

Toyota sent me a survey asking about my experience with their customer service.
One of the questions was "would what you say about this encourage your friends to buy a Toyota?"
Base on your comment, I think I got the answer right...
