Flora in Winter 2026
Mar. 1st, 2026 08:42 amThis year the annual Flora in Winter snuck up on me. Normally they have emails and ads and such that I see a lot. We make plans.
This time, on Thursday I got an email telling me the hours it will be this weekend.
Our membership renews today, so I logged on an renewed then. I bumped us up a level of membership into their "giving society" level as things are going well this year. Didn’t think much of it as we try and give more when we can.
Then, I got a phone call from their director of membership telling me there was a special party and viewing for folks in the "giving society" Thursday night before the main event opened Friday and asking if I wanted to attend.
We decided we would.
But, she also asked as a historical reenactor, what I thought about the new arms and armor exhibit.
There isn’t any personal data in the membership form. Name, address, phone number and credit card number is about it.
So, apparently I was looked up. I mention Phoenix Swords on Linked in.

Specific ones:

I do like the new arms and armor exhibit and like that my favorite sword is on display there.

And, benches:

There were talks and such, but they were hard to hear due to lots of echoes.

It was certainly interesting to see it when it wasn’t crowded. But, I don’t think it is the best year ever.
