Very tired today, so no full report.
I worked about 12 hours, granted sitting at my desk. I did sneak off for 20 minutes to lie down.
My wife says she's getting her smell back and seems happy.
I am really hungry, but have to force myself to eat and can't hold much.
I'm glad my wife seems to be getting better as she is running ahead of me, so that's a good sign...

We got up and went to the airport. Not hard as we were staying at the airport.
The security was not as intensive as I remembered from 5 years ago. But, they have better scanners now.
There were still many lines. And, when we decide to get breakfast, a very long line.
The flight was OK. 7 hours. But, these days with free video and such.
The good news was when we got to Boston, my wife's purse was waiting for us and was not difficult to retrieve.
We drove towards home, only stopping to get take out from our favorite place.
Now, I'm doing lots of laundry until bed time. And, then back to work.
My boss has been sending me emails about how many problems are waiting for me. Nice he thinks of me when I'm away...

Homeward bound
Aug. 21st, 2017 11:16 pmThe eclipse was everything I'd hoped for.
Clear skies, good view, magical experience all around.
Very different from the many partial eclipse I've seen or anything I've seen in photos or video.
I'll get photos up eventually.
The trip home,...
Traffic wasn't too bad.
I left 7 hours to go 150 miles (250km) all highway.
Traffic just after the eclipse was high and only moving about half that speed, but we got to the airport in plenty of time.
Then, the airline main computer for the west coast died. No one could file flight plans needed by law to take off.
It impacted the whole west coast from LA to Alaska.
And, in a spectacular bit of planning, the back up forms to do the plan by hand were on the same server...
They didn't know how long it would take. And, had no way to even guess.
The folks on the ground were fantastic. They broke into the supply of snacks and drinks for us as we waited.
About 4 hours later, we took off.
I had left 5 hours in the plan.
Now, we're waiting in Seattle for the next flight to Boston.
The flight ahead of ours hasn't left yet and should have an hour ago.
Not a good sign.
But, no other connections. This is direct. So, even if it runs late, we won't miss anything.
Glad I left lots of extra time and took the whole day off!

Last day in Melbourne
Jan. 6th, 2017 10:23 amThis stuff with flying at night and getting in at midnight, and/or night time tours of places really impacts my ability to edit photos...
New Zealand was very nice. Hobbiton was great!
We're back in Melbourne for about 12 hours, the fly back to the US via Qatar.
Trying to get the luggage balanced now...

Terrific Tasmania!
Dec. 30th, 2016 10:16 pmWe did far too much today for me to write about it and get any sleep before going back to Melbourne 8 hours from now.
But, it was FANTASTIC!
Especially this:
