Comicon

Once Al brought us back from the airport we got the kids up and played with the dog.

Then, we all got in the van and headed off to get Al’s wife, who was busy with mice at her medical research lab.
This involved a tour of several parts of Baltimore.

She left the mice and came down to join us.

Everyone seemed surprised I was willing to sit in the back. But, I was…

We parked in an old garage building and then realized none of us knew where the convention center was in relation to the garage.

But, this guy named Jeff walked by and said "Going to Comicon? I was there yesterday and know how to get there from here!" So, we followed Jeff.

It was a bit of a walk. We got to see some of the street sculptures.

We all thought this building with the logo grown on the front out of plants was very interesting.

We soon got where we were going.

There were thousands of people there. It was quite crowded.

There were lots of folks in costume. I found the robots particularly compelling.

Al was very interested in seeing the celebrity guests. So, he went to do that while we walked through the rest of the convention.
After a couple of hours, we all needed a rest.

Some folks were very interested in video games.

Others seemed to like looking at the costumes.

So, we all got in line to see the costume contest.
Long line. It was U shaped and we were at the bottom of the U.

We got fairly good seats and waited for it to start.
If they don’t know the camera is pointed at them, sometimes folks look more excited.

There were quite a few entrants. They formed a line that went out of the room.

Lots of good costumes.

I do have a soft spot for a good Dread. I would have preferred a Judge Anderson as his partner.

We got to meet some of the folks afterwards.

We also went back to the dealer’s room. One of my favorite artists/writers was there selling some of the original pages from my favorite comic. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mage_(comics) )
Al bought one of the pages for me as a present for coming down and buying tickets to the con for everyone.
That was very, very nice of him.

Then we had to decide what to do about dinner.

So, we figured out where the car was and headed back to their place.

It was a fun time. But, we were all tired.
So, we got some Chinese food then all went to bed early.

Oh the costumes are my favorite part. I gush over cosplayers more than I do the famous people. =)

That looks like such a great time.

I dressed as an engineering manager in casual clothes and my costume was flawless!

I have done costumes before for things. But, flying down for the day would have made that hard. If the kids get into it and wanted to do a group costume? Maybe.
