Images from the last millennium

We went to visit my aunt today. She and her husband have moved into a retirement home, but have not yet managed to sell their old house.
They’re trying to get rid of their last final things, and were offering things to me.

One of the things was old photographs of my immediate family.

I think the first two were taken in 1980 when my father turned 65. But, I’m not 100% sure. It could have been 1981 too. I’m sure it was before I left for college.

If you can’t tell, I’m the one in center back.


I would have been either 16 or 17 years old. My brother either 14 or 15. My sister either 31 or 32.


I have a vague memory of getting these photos taken. My sister only came home in August and December. So, it would have been one of those. I can’t tell from the clothing which it might be.

The last one is one of my mother I think she had taken just before she got married.


Tomorrow it will be 23 years since I last spoke with my sister. When she called me to tell me to cancel my coming out to see her because she just couldn’t handle it.
For those 23 years there has been nothing from her.
I do send cards and such from time to time, but try not to pester her too much.

Wednesday will be the 17th anniversary of my father’s dying. I last spoke to my brother at his funeral.

I’ve seen my mother since. I’m not 100% sure, but suspect it was my mother in law’s funeral.
My aunt told me today that her teeth were all falling out. I guess at 86, that happens?
Don’t know.
Not going to ask.
