It has tried to snow a few times this last week, but it really has been too cold for a lot of snow.

Unless the storm comes from the south or east and therefore over the ocean, weather that reaches us just doesn’t have all that much moisture in it.
I don’t want the snow pen to disappear, but one of these days it may.

The last morning of our vacation I made a big breakfast for us. (If you can’t tell, our kitchen is small…)

Thursday we resumed our sword research group. We’re still working on the Liancour manual from 1692. http://www.umass.edu/renaissance/lord/pdfs/Liancour_1692.pdf
Our plan is to have a demo of it ready and enough material for a short class when we do the show at Smith College in March.
We want to have some costumes that match the manual. I’ve got a French hat, but it is 250 years too early for this style.

Absolutely! And *nothing* compared to two years ago when our city down the hill was voted on 10 "snowiest ciies in America"

We have been well below average in all forms of precipitation over the last year or so.
I doubt we've had 10CM of snow yet this season, and it normally starts in November:

What exactly is a snow pen?

Someone stuck a pen in the table outside to use as a measurement of how deep the snow gets.
Since that was done, we've hardly had any snow.

Has the snow ever been that deep? O:

Not yet this year.
But, normally by this point in the winter we've had about 50cm of snow. And, that would certainly cover the pen.
Dry winter this year.
