Dreams mix it up
Oct. 17th, 2014 08:04 amLast night I dreamed that I was having one of my many design reviews for
work. But, instead of holding it at my work place I was holding it in an
art museum. I think it was the Worcester art museum as it looked like the
gallery in the north west corner of the museum (16th century European
paintings…) where I could see into the other rooms.
(www.worcesterart.org/information/floor-map.html floor 2, lower right
corner…)
The review was a follow up to another review where I had been given a list
of things I had to update.
I sat at the table and picked up my list.
“I was going to wait for my boss to arrive, but I guess we can start,” I
said looking down through the other galleries. I expected to see Bill, who
has not been my boss for more than 5 ½ years now, but did not.
I looked at the notes from the last review and realized they were written
using some sort of symbol system I didn’t know.
There was a grey square with an X through it. Another with a little dot in
the center. A couple of black shapes of squares and circles.
“I’m pretty sure we’ve done everything we were asked,” I said, holding up
the paper.
I looked down the gallery for Bill again. The doorway into the next room
was half filled with a panel.
“Are the closing off that room?” I asked. “That panel wasn’t there before.”
“No, it was always there,” one of the people at the table said. “Get on
with the review.”
I stopped and got up. The opening between rooms was certainly smaller than
it was.
Dream ends
I’m not sure if there is anything more to this than my brain mixing up
things from the last two weeks in my head.
In the last 2 weeks I have had 12 different types of design/drawing/concept
reviews. And, I’ve got two more today.
So, it is no wonder that my brain places me in that sort of position in my
dreams.
And, when we were at an art museum just under 2 weeks ago, I found some of
the doors I expected had been closed off:

So, that’s in my head too.
Granted, not the Worcester Art Museum, but still the same concept.
The thing that is strange is that I clearly expected my old boss Bill to be
there. I haven’t worked for him in more than half a decade, have had no
contact with him or other folks from the old company.
So, I’m not sure why my brain picked up on him.
I did look at some of the furniture where I work the other day and wonder
who made it. I thought “Bill would know.”
Maybe that’s enough to get him into my dream?
Or at least his name. He didn’t actually appear in the dream…
