It started of well. I road the bike to church. I got it up the big hill home.

We went to sword practice.
We thought “Let’s have folks back to our place and cook out.”
As we left the practice grounds a huge black cloud came over.
I said “I’m glad the storm is up here, it should be good at home.”

Well, it was like the other week when I went to the store.
East, no problem:

West, not so good:

I said “it won’t rain much, I’ll cook anyhow.”

I started to cook. No problem. In fact the fire was so hot I had to have [livejournal.com profile] blue_micha and [livejournal.com profile] morgan_lafaye lift the grill up a few notches while wearing gloves.

When it started to rain, it wasn’t much. I kept cooking. The rain stopped. It wasn’t bad.

Then downpour.

[livejournal.com profile] blue_micha did her best to keep the umbrulla over the fire so it wouldn’t go out. But, my shower doesn’t put out as much water as was coming out of the sky. Lightning and thunder, waves of water, tree parts falling.

We all went inside trying to rescue what food we could. At least we had plenty of towels.
The rain lasted maybe 20 minutes. Too bad we were cooking those 20.

Hopefully this isn’t a rehearsal for next weekend. It would be nice if the 4th is good for this sort of thing. We’ll see.

Just across the lake from you we had half an inch in half an hour - that is a pretty good rate....

Yeah that was nuts.

With Morgan's driving horror story and the rain that follows us...It's like it all came up for revenge all at once.

I would like to think all of the smoke from BBQ's in the [US] would be far less damaging and polluting than all of our cars and trucks and ships and aircraft and powerplants spewing forth every day..And it certainly smells better...Maybe nature was hunkering for a snausage?

:b

Thanks for the towels. I don't think Bro and I have ever been that wet in clothes. Yeck. My Caligae and pants are *still* a little damp

In fact, it rained *so* hard and so much, it caused the colors to run on your camera.
