Renaissance Center May Faire

When we left home this morning, it was pretty sunny and nice.

But, the closer we got to the job in Western Massachusetts, the more cloudy it got.

It was actually starting to rain a bit when we set up the tent.
Unlike how we normally do it, I was told to go and stand under the tent in the center.
This is what it looks like from there through the vent holes.

This is what I look like while there.

We did get the tent set up, and it looked fine when done.

But, it does no do well in the rain, so away it went again.
I know it is a bad joke, but I need to have a photo taken of "Phoenix Swords: outstanding in the field".

We didn’t have any chalk, so had to post our show times some other way.

I wore my new hat to this show. I found that the direction of the wind can be very important with this hat.

Before the show started the bus that was supposed to carry folks to and from the show got stuck in the mud.

Our new guy hooked it up to his truck.

I swear it was like a Chevy truck commercial. He put it in gear and just drove away towing it.

I wouldn’t want to drive one every day, but if I needed to tow something, it might be a good truck to do the job.
Of course, we did sword fighting.

We got a pretty good crowd for our shows.

For some reason, this show lots of people wanted to pose with the swords for photos.

No mater what it may look like, this tree branch did not go up my nose.

As it was not warm, very windy and rained on and off, folks spent a lot of time in the tent.

Not just our people. Everyone at the faire seemed to want to get into our tent.

My wife said that she looked up and could only see "a sea of faces".

Others seemed to want to go out in the rain, but held back some.

The hawk person did try to do his show. One of the hawks blew away, landed on the Ren Center Roof, and seemed very unhappy.

I do not normally attack Tom with hatchets. But, an Italian Sword master has how to defend yourself with sticks. So, these were used as sticks.

My wife an I both really like this photo.
Tom about the attack Devon. Tom’s son peeking out of the tent. Me just watching.

Eventually the day was over.

It did rain, but we didn’t get the major storm with rain, freezing rain and hail that had been warned about. So, that was good.
And, the people who came to the show were more than double last year. And, last year had been the record. So, it was a good year for the ren center too.
