Pilgrimage?
May. 2nd, 2014 10:22 amTonight some of our friends are coming over and we’re going to play that
Star Wars miniature game we’ve played before.
Also today, a brand new ship for that game is being released. I very much
want to get it to use it in the game tonight.
I scanned on line and found one place I can get to in my lunch hour that
has it in stock.
The Barnes and Noble in the Walpole mall.
Or, as I often remember it, the place my father died.
(OK, OK, that is just where he had the brain hemorrhage. His body kept
going for another day at the local hospital. But, that was the last place
he was conscious and what I would count as alive.)
Now, in the 14 years since he died I have not been to that mall, or the
Barnes and Noble therein.
To be fair, I can’t remember the last time I was there. It was never a
very good mall and is more than an hour from my home. So, there has never
been any reason for me to go there.
But, it somehow seems a bit disrespectful to my father to go to the place
he died for the first time in the 14 years since it happened to buy a toy
so I can play with my friends tonight.
I checked the earthquake log for this morning. Nothing in Northern
Vermont. So, he’s not rolling over in his grave yet.
We’ll see what happens when I go to pick it up at lunch…
