As I said, my office had been the janitor’s closet. All of the phone
system’s electronics were in there.
The family owned business that shared the building took care of the phone
system both companies shared. One of the things they did was the “hold”
music.
They bought a cheap portable CD player and plugged it into the system.
They said it was easier replacing that twice a year then getting a fancy
system.
So, on the cabinet across from my desk was this small black CD player that
was going 24/7 with their background music.
One morning winter, when I was in before anyone else in the factory, I
turned around and saw a mouse sitting on it.
It was sitting on its hind legs and would raise its front legs up, like a
dog begging. It would let out little squeaks occasionally as well.
The logical part of me says “a CD player going 24/7 is nice and warm. The
mouse must like that as well as the vibration.”
The rest of me said “that mouse is singing to me.”
Occasionally it would get up and run around the cover of the player, so I
said “and dancing for me.”
I’d only see the mouse when the factory was quiet. But, I saw it off and
on over the winter.
One Monday in the spring I came in and was told “we had someone come in
over the weekend and deal with the mouse problem in the lunchroom.”
I never saw the singing mouse after that. I’d like to think it just moved
on when things got unfriendly. But, that doesn’t seem likely. Still, it
was spring by then, maybe it moved outside. I can hope.

>"deal with the mouse problem"<

Hehe... I'd have hoped to then have a dancing, singing Owl, but that's just me.
