Game night May
May. 11th, 2013 05:38 pmFriday night was game night at
As is often the case in May, it was a Bring Your Own Steak themed after those BYOS parties we had for a a few decades after college.
I did actually bring games other than the X-Wing Star Wars Miniature game.

After everyone ate, we cleared the table and began setting up. This alone was more than an hour.

But, to be fair, we had a LOT of ships we were using.

We should have know we were in for a long game when it started with the Millennium Falcon flying up the jets of a Y-Wing.

The Imperial side was not as intimate.

To prove he wasn’t just picking on Y-Wings, Josh went after an X-Wing next.

But, after much talk, planning, arguments and such, the fleets were finally moving forward.

I was once more playing Darth Vader. We had a plan. Really we did.

It was supposed to be more than “get them!” But, it didn’t work out that way.

It was fun to play, but that many ships take hours to work out.

Still, some folks who had never played before seemed to like it.

At about 1 in the morning we said “let’s quit”. The Rebel Alliance was declared winners as they still had more ships, even though we had blown up the Millennium Falcon.
I had honestly thought it would take about 2 hours and then we’d play something else. But, that didn’t happen.
It was still fun and I do want to play it again. But, we’ve got to figure out a way to go faster.
If you’re interested, here is a 4 minute time lapse of the 4-5 hour game:

Date: 2013-05-13 11:54 pm (UTC)I was bummed I missed out this time. I'd have really enjoyed playing with all of those TIE's and the Aluminum Falcon
Next time.
Thankfully Vader didn't end up on another asteroid playing golf with a light-sabre-9-iron
