When I got up this morning it was fairly clear we had gotten a good bit of snow over night.

And, our cars would need to be dug out.

We waited a bit. I made muffins, we ate them, watched some TV, and then headed out to rescue our cars.

It’s a good thing my wife remembered where she parked. I would not have recognized that middle bump as hers.

I was able to spot mine.

I’m told it was 27”/68.5cm of snow. But, between the wind and the snow plows pushing it, it built up more in places.

It looks more impressive with my wife in the snow hole.

We got my car out first because it was not parked on the side where the snow builds up.

My wife shoveled quite a bit of snow. So did I.

Of course our neighbors were out too.

We were all hoping that the big snow remover would come get rid of the snow bank for us.

But, the guy driving it went off for lunch. So, we got the Subaru out on our own.

One of our downstairs neighbors was having a lot of trouble getting his car out of a very narrow space with almost no room to back up.
He is from India, but I guess not the part that gets a lot of snow.
So, we helped him dig out and push his car out of the narrow spot. He promised to invite us to dinner some time.
He said his name is Kali. You know, like the destroyer of worlds.
I guess if you help the destroyer of worlds dig out his car, you get Indian food out of it.
Not a bad deal.

I'd politely pass on the food, but its always good to get the destroyer of worlds on your side.

It's always good to have the destroyer of worlds on your side. I'm glad you all survived the storm.

This is the most snow we've had for the last two winters combined.
We used to get a storm like this a month, or more often.

I showed my kids these photos. They think you are so lucky! They would love to go and play in all that soft powdery snow. I told them to look at all the shoveling you had to do. They still think its fun, but im sure the novelty would wear off pretty quickly.

I won't lie, it can be fun. Especially if you ski, snowboard or something similar.
But, it was almost 2 hours of shoveling to get the cars out. When we were done we were both cold, wet (from melted snow on our clothes) and tired.
So, we didn't play in it much.

There were plenty of kids out in it and they seemed to be having fun.

Yeah - I can imagine the shoveling is just plain hard work. You did a great job.

We had about 22" here, though with the wind there were also drifts that were more than 3 feet deep. I spent 6 hours shoveling, snowblowing, and plowing.
It is now "Miller Time" and I am sitting by the woodstove, waiting for the feeling in my fingers and toes to come back..
