Frank’s Final Florida...Facets? Photos?
Dec. 27th, 2012 08:47 pmIt is said that my family is cursed. Wet and cold follow us around. Maybe that’s why so many in my family retreat to Florida where there is some resistance to cold and often a whole lot of wet.
But, this trip we saw zero rain. I’m not sure I’ve ever been to any other trip to Florida where that was true. But, we did pay for that in cold.
This chart shows the maximum temperature from the day before we got there until the day after we left.

It is in Fahrenheit, but what is used to measure it hardly matters, the principal is there: we arrive it gets cold, we leave it gets warm.
One day we had wind chill warnings there in Florida.

I totally sat on that gator in Gatorland.

Last time I only squatted over it. But, this time, I did sit on the poor lizard.
My wife made up for it by cuddling two reptiles at once.

For all the advice my father gave and I ignored, I seem to have the most trouble ignoring the idea that feeding dolphins is a waste of money. But, I do my best to overcome it and this year did better than most.

We traveled at twilight both ways. Sunrise going down, sun set coming back.

On the way down, we did fly right over Cape Canaveral and the launch areas.

We talked about the plants in bloom in Florida a lot. How Disney manages it, and other related things.

At Epcot, the trash bins in the American area say “waste please”. I thought that ironic. It doesn’t say it in any other area.

In the German area they have a really big electric train. Apparently appreciation of electric trains goes along with bringing the cold and is a family trait.

This extends to big monorails too.

I wasn’t super impressed with Epcot, but they did have a nice sunset.

These are the acorns my cousin Thomas is selling on the internet.

I’m amazed anyone would pay for things that get underfoot so much where I live.
My cousins have a nice view from their balcony.

You can see a lot from a balloon 400 feet up.

Or, a tower 300 feet up.
