I actually like a certain level of politics. Not to the point of watching
live feeds from proceedings or such. But, keeping informed of what is
being decided on and things like that.
I am pretty quick to write to my congressman, senator or president if I
have a strong opinion of what is under debate so they know where they
stand. At least my congressman says he appreciates that. (Probably
because I often agree with his position on things.)

But, I don’t like the elections. At all.
I like being given the chance to elect the people for the government. I
just don’t like the way it has become a sporting event.
I know I often bring
this up
, especially George Washington’s warning against political
parties. Everything he warned about has come true.
And, the elections these days pale in comparison to some of the old ones.

Based on the numbers I get from the news a total of $19.12 was spent per
citizen this election cycle. That works out to 6 billion dollars. Enough
for 1000 six million dollar men. (Or probably men and women. But, they
never put a price tag on the bionic woman…)

I am personally in favor of using all the money that will be spent in 2016
for a small army of bionic people to go out and fight terrorism, rebuild
after hurricanes and rebuild the country’s infrastructure.
But, somehow I doubt that is how it will go.

I so feel like you, All the heavy glossed election advertising that was left on my door from both parties to only go in the trash was such a waste of trees...and effort on the people putting them there as glossy images of flags did change my way of thinking.

I totally agree.

I keep finding myself not getting active the way you do in writing to your [congressman]. I keep meaning
to but like a new year's resolution, it gets put on the back burner.

Although it seems like many of the issues I'd wanted to comment on ended up getting passed or resolved in a way
I found acceptable, so that adds to the thinking that I don't have to become as active as I had previously thought.

I know, that's a very slippery slope / bad road to travel, but there's always the chance for me to change that.

I am so glad that the election is over. In many ways, I was quite unhappy with many of the choices in candidates for numerous positions from all the options.

In spite of it all, we did still vote as we always do.

Now, in spite of the negativity, we find that New Hampshire has now set a new historical record! Our new governor, both our "new" congressional representatives, and both of our senators are NOW ALL WOMEN!!! This is truly a ground-breaking event - probably up there with electing the first black man to the office of president.

hopefully something good will come out of it!

i obviously do a ton of environmental outreach, but often felt like no one was listening (we had a Republican rep). now our district has switched again, and i'm hoping to get better form letters in reply to my pleas.

as for the money wasted on ads when everyone dislikes them and we need funds to rebuild the country? it's sad.
