Can I just get my $19 and call it even?

I actually like a certain level of politics. Not to the point of watching
live feeds from proceedings or such. But, keeping informed of what is
being decided on and things like that.
I am pretty quick to write to my congressman, senator or president if I
have a strong opinion of what is under debate so they know where they
stand. At least my congressman says he appreciates that. (Probably
because I often agree with his position on things.)
But, I don’t like the elections. At all.
I like being given the chance to elect the people for the government. I
just don’t like the way it has become a sporting event.
I know I often bring
this up, especially George Washington’s warning against political
parties. Everything he warned about has come true.
And, the elections these days pale in comparison to some of the old ones.
Based on the numbers I get from the news a total of $19.12 was spent per
citizen this election cycle. That works out to 6 billion dollars. Enough
for 1000 six million dollar men. (Or probably men and women. But, they
never put a price tag on the bionic woman…)
I am personally in favor of using all the money that will be spent in 2016
for a small army of bionic people to go out and fight terrorism, rebuild
after hurricanes and rebuild the country’s infrastructure.
But, somehow I doubt that is how it will go.
