Another busy weekend
Apr. 6th, 2008 08:39 pmOur weekends usually are busy. And, it will be more so when the Phoenix season really gets going.
Of course, Friday we didn’t do all that much. So, I shouldn’t make out like we’ve been going 24/7.
Saturday morning we went back over to the museum and met Mark so he could review the halberd routine.
We had been there when the guild first reviewed it many years ago. We had been there when it was made into a presentation piece.
So, we did have some knowledge of it. But, it had been years. Two years since we had even seen it done, much less done it ourselves.
So, relearning it took a bit. And, more than once I hit my wife’s knuckles. I had thought I had apologized each time, but I guess there was once I didn’t. Not because I wasn’t sorry for doing it, but simply because I didn’t realize it had happened. But, I did, eventually, apologize for all.
On the way back, I stopped and picked up a new digital camera to replace the one broken last week. It’s very nice. It has lots of buttons. Sample pictures are below.
In the late afternoon we set off for Connecticut. Two troupe members are getting married and they were having a Jack & Jill shower. We thought it started at 5 and got there at 5:03. (As my wife said, the earlier we get there, the earlier we can leave. I was OK with that.) But, apparently it started at 6. So, we toured the countryside for an hour. We had both thought we’d find something worth stopping to look at. Book store, record store, park, monument… Something...
We stopped at an ATM machine…
Yeah. Ah well. It is a nice area, just not much to actually do there. Good place to live and go elsewhere for fun. (The folks I know from there assure me my opinion is shared, which is why they no longer live there…)
So, we went back. It was OK. People I’ve fired from the troupe where there. People who I actively encouraged to leave where there. They didn’t talk to us. (Although I guess they say they tried. I’m not sure how. I said hello, they nodded, we both walked on.)
We ended up sitting with
We didn’t stay too late.
(I had another strange dream about my little brother joining the Chinese tongs, but don’t remember enough about it to write it up.)
Sunday we had Phoenix practice in the morning, then went out for lunch.
My wife had to go into work at noon to open the lab. We said we’d tell her where we were going.
I listed the places that had buffets in the area, including Fireflys .
Before I could answer,
So, that’s where we went. My wife still managed to meet us, and we all had a good time.
We only played WOW in the afternoon, and watched more movies.
We were so full from lunch, I didn’t bother to cook dinner.
Here are some pictures with the new camera.
This is where the party Saturday night was. I could tell by the outside what the whole event would be like.

Open bar, but the glasses were small*

You really have to look close in his hand to see it:

All you can eat barbeque brunch.

*Actually, it wasn’t an open bar. The drinks were expensive, but at least they were small…
