Dreams of snow and travel

I had several dreams last night.  Two of the three I can’t remember.  The
only thing I remember about the last one was waking up and saying “that was
clearly and anxiety dream”.  Too bad I don’t remember the dream itself.

The dream I do remember:
It was the middle of some very large snow/ice storm.  On the level of a
major hurricane, except frozen.  It was dumping feet of snow and shutting
down everything.
But, I had to get somewhere.
I was on foot and following what should have been a major highway, but was
only a track in the snow from where other people in front of me had walked.
I think it was route 287 just NW of the Tappan Zee bridge in the section
where it goes past the shopping mall with the wobbly floors.  (The
Palisades Mall if you’ve never experienced their floors.)
Although I was following the track in the snow, I did not see any other
people.  Only blowing snow and ice.
I crested the hill and saw the bridge.  In the dream it was a much smaller
bridge than the real Tappan Zee.  It was narrow like a train bridge, the
river it was over was much less wide and the bridge was much higher up.  It
was more like narrow George Washington bridge.
I knew the ocean was off to my right.   I could see the storm was pushing a
large storm surge up the river and it was fighting the downstream flow
right under the bridge.  Large chunks of ice were washing back and forth in
the fight between the two flows.  Several ships were on the river, and none
doing well.  One was caught in a large piece of ice.  Another had been hit
by one and was sinking and on fire.
The hill down to the bridge was quite steep.  I was more like walking down
a bobsled course than following a road.  About half way down I slipped and
began to slide down the hill.
I kept going out onto the bridge and came to rest about halfway across.
To my right I saw a much bigger wave coming.  I didn’t think it would reach
the bridge, but didn’t want to be on the bridge when it hit the supports
holding it up.
I backpedaled and tried to get to the shore I had started.
As I did, the wave hit something in the water below the bridge and shot a
geyser of water up.  It hit the bottom of the bridge and punched a hole
through.  The water was a very bright green/blue color and I was worried
there was some chemical in it other than water.
I was far enough away not to get hit, but water from it began flowing down
the track I was in towards me.
I backpedaled faster, but the water hit my feet and got about half way up
my shins before I reached the shore and got higher up.
I looked down at my legs and was very worried they would now freeze and
there wasn’t anything I could do about it.
Dream ends.

I know where some of this dream comes from.  I was working out the route my
wife should drive to Pensacola for the show.  And, we’ve gone over both the
Tappan Zee and George Washington on that drive.
Wednesday they are predicting snow.  I was thinking about the year we did
get caught in the blizzard coming home and the normal 24 hour drive took us
35.  (What was normally 4 hours from Pennsylvania took 12.  And, that
doesn’t count my getting lost and taking us to KY by mistake.)
And, I can’t deny I’m worried about putting on the show with the least
number of people we’ve ever had at a show in Pensacola.  And, last year
when others drove and I flew things went very bad for me personally, even
if the performance was fine.  It’s hard to get that out of my head.
For the other elements of the dream, on the cooking show we watch they had
a guest judge who had raced the skeleton in the Olympics.  So, that kind of
bobsled course was in my mind.
And, the other day we were talking about someone who poisoned people with
antifreeze, so that could be the chemical idea of the water.

I wish I could remember the other two dreams.  When I woke I remember
thinking that had some good insight into what was bothering me.
Ah well.  I guess I’ll have to figure it out on my own.
