Having crossed the border to Mississippi at the leisurely speed of 75 in the dark of night to get someone to the airport by 5 (as opposed to other Mobile faires where the border was crossed at a much higher speed to run down another car and retrieve some car keys), we then had 4 hours until our flight took off.
So we went to THE Waffle House of song and story.

The staff there seemed happy to see us even if it meant they had to stop smoking in the parking lot and go in and wait on us.
We had a nice big breakfast and headed over to the airport.
As turned out to be one of the themes for the weekend, our plane was not there when it should have been.

But, it did eventually arrive and we got on. Again, 100% full.

As we took off, it began to snow.
Yes, along the Gulf of Mexico.
But, not outside, inside the plane.
[livejournal.com profile] blue_micha and I both had window seats and snow began to dribble down on us from the vents.

As it melted very quickly at first I wondered if the man in front of me was spitting over his seat back at me.
But, the air flight attendant got on the speaker and told us it was normal from having the door open in the warm humid air.
It was still strange to be snowed on while taking off from a warm beach.

I like the window seat because I like watching what we fly over.

We crossed the Mississippi on the trip for the sword troupe, but after more than 9 years still no luck getting a show on the other side. Sad.

I’m pretty sure these marks on the ground mean that Louisiana and Texas were visited by ancient aliens who carved it.

Aliens or not, we got to Huston.
There is a train that runs between terminals. And, the runway goes over a highway.
So, that airport has planes, trains and automobiles.

It also has a restaurant with a very big wine collection for a terminal place to eat.

The flight to Boston was 100% full and took a very long time to get everyone on board.

Have you ever heard of folks with eyes in the back of his head? Must be a school teacher.

As we flew back across the country, the sun went down.

The pilot had promised us we’d get in 15 minutes early. So, naturally we landed 13 minutes late. We got back to the terminal where it again took a long time for people to exit the plane. One woman was so intent on going fast she yanked her suitcase out of the overhead compartment and right down on top of a woman in the seat across from me.
This gained her nothing but awkward silence for the next 10 minutes we had to wait for the people in front of us to get off of the plane.

Then, out to the garage to play where’s Waldo with [livejournal.com profile] blue_micha’s car.

We did find it after a fair bit of walking and made it out of Boston.
I was very happy to get home, happy to sleep in my own bed, and happier still to wake up the next morning and find the folks who drove had just dropped off my wife’s car while I had been in the shower.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Funny because it's inevitably true.
