I’ve got problems with milk. I am lactose intolerant, but also have something more going on where I get very bad headaches, fevers and other more allergy type symptoms.
It isn’t as bad with cooked and processed milk. It is very bad with things like whole milk, ice cream or real cheeses.
I call it a milk allergy although I’m not 100% sure that is what it is medically.

Twice in the last week I have been at restaurants where I’ve ordered something new.
At both of these establishments I asked the waitress involved if there was any milk in the item in question as I was allergic to it.
Both of the waitresses in question told me they had to go and check.
“There may be a problem because the dish had eggs in it,” I was told both times.

Since when are eggs made of milk?

Milk comes from cows, goats, and Sontarans. (Other mammals are involved as well.)
Eggs come from fish and dinosaurs.

Mammals have a long history of eating dinosaur eggs. When I was young I was taught that’s how we took out the big dinos all those years ago. (Hey, I was a high school senior when they found the K-T boundary layer. It was even later they linked it to the Chicxulub Crater. Before that an impact was considered a fringe theory.)

When I was growing up, my third cousins had a dairy farm. Next to it was a small egg operation (too small to call a farm) run by my first cousin twice removed.
But, that’s as close as dairy and eggs ever got for me. Different cousins next to each other.

In the 22 years since I developed my problem with milk, this is the first time anyone has suggested that eggs might be a problem for it.
And, twice in one week, at different restaurants, by different waitresses seems really weird to me.

Maybe the waitresses went to the same high school.

Context: for vegetarians, there are the ones that do dairy-and-eggs, and the ones that don't (vegans). I think that is why people get confused.
