I dreamed we were driving to or from a Phoenix job through the town where I grew up. We were in my red station wagon and at least one other Phoenix person, [livejournal.com profile] morgan_lafaye, was with us I don’t know if anyone else was in the seat behind me in the car.
We were driving down Washington street from the east towards the Islington center traffic light at the intersection of East street. As we passed Fairview street, it started to get very windy. I thought “if we turned up here, we could get to my parent’s house.”
But, we kept going to the traffic light at East Street.
As we got to the East street light, it got hurricane windy. The whole car shook as the wind blew and other cars on the road started being pushed around by the wind.
I turned right onto East street trying to get to where my parent’s house was for some shelter.
The wind got worse. Cars started being blown through the air around us. A police car that was coming down the hill in front of us left the ground and went past us in the air.
Although several cars around us were being blown through the air, they were floating fairly slowly.
My station wagon was also going very slowly as I was trying to drive into the wind. Despite the wind being enough to pick up some cars and blow them through the air, none of the buildings or trees around seemed to be damaged by it.
As I went up the small hill towards Schaefer avenue, I looked in my rear view mirror.
Standing on the far side of the intersection in front of a car that was parked cross wise on East street was a dark haired woman in a black dress.
She was clearly staring right at us as all of the rest of this went on.
“She is the cause of this,” I thought as I continued to try and drive away. But, even in the dream, I knew she could be the cause of it without doing it on purpose.
I made the right turn onto Schaefer where the hill gave us some cover for the wind. We turned left at the top of the hill and headed up Pine lane toward my parents.
On Pine lane there were some sticks and branches down on the road from the wind, but the wind was much less then it had been down at the bottom of the hill.
Dream ends.

For reasons not at all clear to me, I woke up from this one very disturbed by it.
Yesterday there was a lot of talking about wind. We didn’t do fire practice because it was windy. We talked about how windy it will be in Pensacola and how we run the fire show there because of that.
I have no idea who the woman in the dream was or was supposed to be or represent. I’ve got a bunch of guesses, but they were all made after I woke up and aren’t from the dream itself.
It is also strange to me that in the dream I would go to my parent’s house for safety. That is not usually what it represents to me in dreams.
Back when I was in first grade I got caught in a hurricane while walking along Washington street. In real life I turned up Fairview street go get home as I told myself to do in the dream. But, that was 41 years ago. Why dream about it now?

wow. Well, it might be that all of that talk about wind, and the coming weather systems your subconscious just happened to remember that childhood incident, to re-process and maybe compare to the recent talk and about "what to do if..."
