Wanted by the police
Feb. 18th, 2010 06:47 pmLast night as I was taking our dinner out of the oven the phone rang.
It was the police. 1
The officer on the phone wanted me to come down and talk to them. 2
So, I put what I cooked into the fridge and my wife and I drove off down town to have a chat. 3
I’m told they were looking for me for a long time and were glad they finally caught me. 4
While there I got quite a grilling. 5
To be fair, they got a grilling from us too. 6
There was a lot of talk and questions about unsavory people. 7
The subject of driving with an open container of alcohol came up several times. 8
Finally, after a lot of questions and talk, they let us go. 9
I was charged, but not with too much. 10
However, it may end up costing us big. 11
But, right now, we’re off the hook. 12
That’s my story and I’m sticking with it. 13
1) My wife’s cousin who is a police officer.
2) They were waiting for us at Chilli’s bar and grill at the bottom of the hill where we live. We had mixed up which night we were supposed to meet them.
3) To Chilli’s. Not really down town, but on the same road as the town hall and police station…
4) It was 45 minutes past when we were supposed to get there. I’m amazed they waited that long with a 9 year old in tow. I’d have given up or called sooner myself.
5) The fajitas triple.
6) They all had fajitas as well.
7) And other relatives we like as well, not just the relatives we don’t like…
8) He had the now empty keg from my mother in law’s memorial to give back to us so we could get the refund. He was very appreciative that we left him the extra beer and let them take as long as they wanted to go through it.
9) We agreed to meet for dinner some other time soon.
10) We paid. Only fair if we show up 45 minutes late, right? And, Chilli’s isn’t the most expensive place around.
11) We agreed to do a show for their son’s birthday
12) His birthday is in July
13 Because it sounds more interesting then “we got the date wrong to meet my wife’s cousin for dinner, showed up late after they called to see where we were, but still had a nice visit with them and talked a lot about family.” I’ve always suspected those shows that say “based on a true story” work the same way as the way I told this “based on a true story” from last night...
