Everything I thought it would be

Monster.com was having a job fair in near Boston today.
Now over the last 25 years I’ve been to a dozen or more job fairs. I have NEVER found anything useful at any of them. Usually very few are after engineers, and less after mechanical engineers like me.
But, hope springs eternal, right?
It was a rainy day anyhow, and the trees are continuing to dump stuff out of the branches.

So, 40 miles later in the rain, I got to the job fair.

It’s been a decade or so since I’ve been to one. Back then, they were mostly technology companies looking for people.
Now:
Ernie Boch Toyota dealership
Burger King
Dunkin’ Donuts
L.L. Bean
Sprint
UPS
Now, I’m not knocking any of those companies. I know folks who have or still do work for some of them.
But, no major manufacturing companies. No companies that develop product.
No good signs for the regional economy if those companies aren’t looking for people.
There were a lot of headhunters there. All ones I’ve already dealt with. A lot of the companies I am looking for have outsourced their recruitment to headhunter companies, so I’m putting it down to that.
But, still nothing even close to what I’m looking for.
As I left I did find one face happy to see me.

So, maybe not a total loss.
