Water, water
May. 20th, 2009 09:24 pmTomorrow is supposed to be quite warm (90F/32C) so I guess it is good the apartment complex is filling up the swimming pool.

I had always thought they just used a hose to fill it up. But as I walked to the store today I saw two tank trucks delivering the water to the pool. I’m somewhat worried that the light blue color is in the water itself, not the paint in the pool. But, as long as people don’t turn blue in it, right?
It was our second “creative Wednesday”. I did a cartoon, a rendered image and a movie (not fit for the internet). I also cooked a dinner of something I’ve never done before. It consisted of a manicotti stuffed with sausage, hummus, beans and guacamole. It was OK, but the pasta didn’t really cook the way I wanted.
Still, that’s the idea, do something new and see if it works.
There are a couple of job fairs coming up that I am debating attending. Over the years, I’ve been to a bunch of them.
They have NEVER resulted in anything more than emptying my gas tank for the trip.
But, I want to be doing something too...
Haven’t decided yet.
One engineer in MA made a radio advertisement this week
Date: 2009-05-21 03:31 am (UTC)IT is possible that some other radio stations may start to run "blocks" of advertizing space for people looking for jobs, or something similar if this turns out to be popular. The engineer (embedded systems guy with 20_ years of experience) apparently already got some calls for interviews out of it - but it cost him $1500 for the radio spot for the week.
I am not saying that this is necessarily something you should do, but it does show that thinking "outside the box" and doing things like your DVD and other ideas to differentiate yourself can get results.

Date: 2009-05-21 03:54 am (UTC)Well, that's about $1490 more than my budget...
Still "out of the box" stuff is what I'm after.
