All I want to do is watch Disney’s Aladdin.
I heard one of the songs the week before last and said “I haven’t seen that in a long time. I should watch it again.”
But, I can’t find my tape. (Yes, it’s been that long since I’ve watched it.)
Now, I loan out videos all the time to all sorts of folks. Friends, people in the troupe, people at work, people at church.
I sometimes remember who I loaned what. But, usually not.
Having a good bunch of friends, I almost always get stuff back.
But, just because I can’t find the movie on the rack doesn’t mean it’s lost for good. It could up up in storage. It could just be buried somewhere.

But, I thought to myself, what a good time to get it on DVD.

I can’t.

Disney has pulled it off of the shelves. If you didn’t buy it before their cut off date, too bad for you.

That’s OK, I thought to myself. The video store close to me sells a lot of used videos. Even though it hasn’t been there the past couple of times, it was worth looking today just to see.

There it was!
Actually, it was Aladdin 1 and 2 in a boxed set. I don’t want 2, but do want 1. So, OK, I’ll take the set.

I looked at the price. The tag said “return to office”.
Weird. I buy used videos there all the time, never saw that before.

So, I brought it up to the register.

“Oh I’m sorry,” the woman there said. “We can’t sell this to you.”
“But, it was on the shelf,” I said. “It’s used.”
“I’m sorry,” she said. “We have to ship this back to the main office.”
“Thank you anyhow,” I said and left.

So, the Mouse wins again.
I’m tempted to say something like “He can’t take my memories of it!” but I’m afraid I’ll wake up one night to find Mickey over me with some sort of weird thing attached to my head...
