This weekend was the Worcester Art Museum’s Flora in Winter: https://www.worcesterart.org/events/flora-in-winter/

Much of the art was back compared to a few weeks ago.

But, some was still missing.

As is always the case, we walk up to the 4th floor and work our way down. This year we entered at the bottom instead of the middle as we normally do. So, I did sit down at the top…
There were less of the general decoration set ups than normal Normally at the top of the stairs they do a big thing. Not this year.

And, nothing on the stairwell for the second year in a row.

Also this year it seemed more difficult to get an unobstructed view of the flowers. Part of that is that there was a snow storm Friday evening so the museum closed 4 hours later than planned on Saturday. (And, they stayed open 4 hours late too.)
But, folks seemed more inclined to hover in front of the flowers this year. And, some I never got an unobstructed view.
Even when the gallery wasn’t that full.

Many pieces are intended to match specific pieces of artwork.
We thought this one did well:

This one we thought was OK.

OK.

This one we did not think had the gravitas of the painting…

This one we thought matched fairly well.

This one I didn’t realize I had the wrong matching artwork until we got home. It isn’t trying to match the colorful thing behind it, it’s trying to match the big wooden iron on the ground next to it. As I missed that, I didn’t get good photos of the iron.

I thought this one matched fairly well.

Personally I thought this went better with the wall behind it than the artwork.

This is one I couldn’t get near.

The woman to the left of the flowers (behind the guy) was poking this flower arrangement, which I think was very bad. But, the tour guide that was in the area didn’t say anything so I didn’t either.

I tried to take a video of her poking it, but someone walked right in front of me when I was doing, so I only got that still…

This one was OK.

Another one I never got close to. But, it didn’t look like a great match.

The crowd did make my wife hide in the next room.

This one seemed like a good match.

My wife through this was such a bad match it made her angry.

Another OK one.

Another one hard to get close to.

This woman just wouldn’t get away from those flowers.

This one eventually they formed enough of a gap even if I had to stay on the other side of the room to get it. We thought this one was a good match.

The woman in blue just loved that tomb so much she never left it’s side…

"The Chapterhouse" generally gets a more theme match than anything specific.

I wasn’t going to charge in front of someone in a wheelchair…

I had trouble getting this and the art in the same shot

Another tour blocking this one. But, I did go through the glass on the far side…

This tour was giving an in depth discussion of the original ceramic going into the temperature range of the kiln and such.
While interesting, it did not give a close up look at the subjects as the tour guide just stood there for a long time. (I did the next room, came back, he was still going…)

This room always seems to have trouble getting a good match. I’ve noticed it in years past as well.

This one just seemed to be there to match the theme of Japanese prints in the room rather than any particular one.

Some, are general decorations.

As is normal they had some flowers in the bathrooms, but less than some years. (Although one year they had none, so it’s not the least.)

I’m not sure if this is part of the exhibit or not…

You know, if I made something that looked like this in woodshed, I’d have failed.

The old library is where they’re support to put the arms and armor from the old Higgins museum that closed about a decade ago. I took this photo and a guy that works there said "sorry you’re missing the swords".
I don’t know who he was or if he knows I do a lot with swords. It was a bit strange.

The doctor still hasn’t finished that chess game…

We really want that one that’s second on the left, but can’t find anyone who makes reproductions of it.

Outside we saw the same make, model, year and color of my car. But, mine was in the shop, so this one was just taunting me.

Then, off to do the shopping for the week, which had also been delayed by the storm.

Overall it seemed like less flowers this year.

And, the ticket price went up. So, it is not my favorite year.
But, I’m still glad they had it and we went.

EXCUSE ME, MY FRIEND ON THE INTERNET WANTS TO SEE THIS FLORAL ARRANGEMENT, PLEASE MOVE. :)

The boat dashed against the jetty was so well done.

It's always good to see art that makes you think, I would not have done that but hummmm.

Thanks for sending me down the internet shopping rabbit hole. =P

I found three similar fouchards, but none where the curved blade and the fork were as far apart as the one in the WAM case.

Thank you for sharing the pics. I enjoy seeing the flowers with the art...even if I dont always get how they are supposed to match.
