I blame Fellowship of the Ring

Back in 2009 after Thanksgiving dinner, my wife and I watched the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.
The next day her mother died.

We stayed away from it for a while. About 5 years later, we decided to watch it again.
A friend’s mother passed away the next day.

So, I put the DVDs up on a shelf and ignore them.

But, this whole plague thing has been reminding me of places we’ve gone in the past. So, I thought “I’ll just read the start of the book about the parts in Hobbiton where my wife and I visited 3 years ago.”

Of course, I didn’t stop reading. And, as I read I couldn’t help thinking “maybe I shouldn’t be risking this.”

The day after I read about them going into Moria, my wife’s started to cough and her temperature went up…

I switched to another book. But, the test came back positive.

I have been a fan of the Lord of the Rings for almost 50 years.
But, I think I’ll keep away from it for a while…
