Last Sunday started out nice.

We weren’t having sword practice so my wife and I decided to go off to a brunch place near us that has a nice view.

Afterwards we went to the supermarket where I was reminded how I don’t like some of the folks in our town who think rules don’t apply to them.

Before noon, the weather had changed, so we decided to spend the rest of the day in doing laundry.

Wednesday Pokemon through it was snowing.

But, all I saw was rain and bad traffic.

I encountered one very bad driver who not only drove straight into traffic, but made a number of rude gestures towards me and then waggled his car back and forth as come kind of victory dance.

But, that same drive I caught up with my wife’s car, and that was much nicer.

Because of the bad driver, I decided to start taking video of my drive. But, I didn’t see him again.

Thursday it was back to the dentist because my teeth were very painful. You can see on the bottom right of the left most tooth that the crown is cracked on the bottom. I think this is what’s causing the problem. I go to a specialist Monday.

Despite daylight savings, sunrise has caught up with my morning drive again.

Saturday morning started foggy and cool, but we decided to drive the 3 hours to New York City anyhow.

Of course, it’s only 3 hours if you don’t hit traffic, and we always do.

But, if not all roads go to NYC, many do, so we switched to a backup road and got there.

You could mostly see Manhattan from this bridge, if you don’t try and look through the supports.

The backup road goes by the place that figures big in the movie Men In Black.

Looks like one of these did not fly around and crash after all. Or, the MIB put it back when done…

But, movie location or not, traffic.

We still made OK time to the tunnel to Manhattan. And, the weather was getting nicer all the time.

And, we were soon in Manhattan.

We didn’t pack in a garage, but found a place on the street to park. Costs less, but has a time limit.

We were going to the Morgan Library and Museum on Madison Ave.
https://www.themorgan.org

We were there to see the Tolkien exhibit.

They don’t allow photos. Sad. But, we saw lots of other things at the museum where you can take photos.

The exhibit has been open about 3 months and has about 1 to go. So, we thought it would be a safe day to go as not near the beginning or the end.
So, we were surprised to find the line getting in that was all folks to see the Tolkien thing.

The line moved fairly quickly as there are timed tickets and they just queued folks up.

Waiting for our time we looked at their other things.

Tarot cards.

Old books from England.

Issac Newton’s book on mechanics.

Gutenburg bible.

For reasons I’ve never understood, I’ve always been very fond of roller seals. And, the Morgan has a great collection of them.

(They have a lot more, but I’ve photographed them before if you’re interested: https://fbhjr.dreamwidth.org/1172323.html or https://fbhjr.livejournal.com/1182538.html )

They also have some ancient writing that is very cool.

They also had a special exhibit on renaissance drawing.

They had some interesting pieces.

The Tolkien exhibit was good, but very crowded. They did limit how many folks could go in at once, but some folks went through it very slowly.
Very, very slowly. There was one section that was narrow, and you just couldn’t get around the very, very slowly moving line.
So, we gave up and left.
But, I did see the bits I liked most.
So, we headed home.

The tunnel in and out of Manhattan has two lanes with some plastic barriers between them.

As we went into the tunnel, one guy decided the other lane was faster, dove through the plastic barriers and almost hit a car in the other lane.

Sadly for him, it was a police car. At the end of the tunnel, he had to face that.

We did see some interesting graffiti on the trucks of NYC.

We drove back through the outer layers of NYC.

Going out over the bridge you could see much more of the city.

If you avoid the supports.

The other side is pretty too.

Of course, traffic.

But, we did make it out of the city.

But, more traffic.

We got back to Worcester and went to our favorite place for linner. (Like Brunch, but in the afternoon.) We weren’t quite ready for this spot.

I do like this saying they have there.

After dinner we went over to the electronics store to get my wife some new headphones. As always, I looked over at what used to be the sword and armor museum we did shows at 15 years ago. Still miss that place.
