I've been planning to see next Monday's eclipse for several years now.

I booked hotels

Then, last weeks this started to be a problem.
The hotel cancelled my reservation I made 13 months ago.
I couldn't get a rental car anywhere in Idaho and had to change my plan to drive over from Seattle. So, I plan to drive over and use my plane ticket to come back.
The traffic predictions told me that what is normally an hour drive might be as much as 10 hours.

Now, rental cars are again available in Boise.
Hotel rooms are showing up in the eclipse path for bad prices, but not horrible stupid prices.

So, I'm torn on what to do.

I've booked two rooms now for the same night, either of which I can cancel by Friday.
One is under the path of the eclipse, but on the far side of center from Boise.

So, there are two choices:
One: We can go back to the original plan of flying into Boise, renting a car and driving to the eclipse zone.

Two: We can continue with the new plan and drive from Washington State into the zone where we have hotel waiting.

The problem with the first is, we might not be able to get into the zone in time to see it.
The problem with the second is, I'll have to cross the center of the zone to get to the flight home and who knows that that will work out with traffic.

Both methods, if they work, would get us the same amount of eclipse.
Both have risks. One of not seeing it, the other of not getting home afterwards.

I have until Friday to decide and cancel one of the rooms.
Not sure which way to go...
