It’s always on my mind this time of year. Last night we were watching an episode of the show Travelers where this is a flash back to two of the characters going through a very similar thing.
It was a bit hard to watch. Almost word for word some of the things I’ve said about it over the years.

So, I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that last night I had a dream involving red lightsabers.
I don’t remember the dream very well.
My wife and I were on the run from someone/something that was chasing us. People, not monsters.

For some reason, we had taken shelter in a Chinese restaurant. Not one I know. It seemed to be in a poorer section of a fairly large city.

The woman who ran the place convinced me that I had to stop running and take the attack to the people coming after us.
She handed me Darth Maul’s lightsaber and told me her son would go with me to help.
I was given an additional bag of lightsabers in case I needed them.

We set off walking across the city to get where we were going.
As we walked down a street with a lot of trees, it began to rain.
I checked the lightsaber as I wasn’t sure they were waterproof.

Instead of holding Maul’s lightsaber I was holding my replica of Count Dooku’s.
I checked the bag of lightsabers and found they were all plastic toy ones.

I looked at the one I was holding and found that not only had it turned into a cheap plastic toy, but it had three blades of different diameters going off in different directions. So, it was more of a tripod.

That’s where the dream ended. I’m not at all sure what it means.
The pain of that awful night 14 years ago has certainly changed over the years. But, not into a cheap toy…

Anyhow, this is far from the only day on the calendar I hate, even if it is the one I hate most.
Strangely they bunch together at this time of year and six months from now. I’ve never figured out why they seem to group together in February & March, then August and September. I guess I should just be happy about the other 8 months being OK.

Anyhow, in good news out godkids are coming up to see us this weekend. Our godson will officially become a teenager and we’ll all go sledding on the snow.

It is excellent to have such good things this time of year too.
