Phoenix Swords gender balance

We’re looking for new members of Phoenix Swords. Our next show is at a women’s only university, so I thought I’d look at how we do on genera balance.

Of our 10 official members, we’re not quite even.


Of the shows we’ve done, 1/4 had a equal number of men and women, a bit more had more women than men, but quite a few shows had more men than women.


Looking at the individual shows you can see there is a lot of peaks and valleys. There are 8 out of the 317 shows that were all men. (More than half of those were Casey doing single person shows in the group’s name.)
No shows out of 317 have been all women performers…


The average number of women is about 45% at shows. And, that has been pretty consistent over the 14 years we’ve been doing shows.
