Visiting the Dutch masters

The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston was having an exhibit on the Dutch Masters and how their work reflects the class distinction in Holland 400 years ago.

The exhibit has been there a few months, but we’ve been fairly busy the last few months, so hadn’t gone to see it.
As this is its last weekend, we decided we had better go.
It was not a nice day for driving into Boston.

Sometimes it was rain. Sometimes snow. Most times not quite either.

Whatever it was, there was a lot of it.

We stopped at the Swiss Bakery we like for breakfast, then over to the museum.

We got there before they technically opened. But members were being let in early to go see this exhibit.
Sadly, no photos allowed of the exhibit itself.
Sad. It was very, very nice.
And, it filled up quickly. As soon as it was "normal" museum hours, 10AM, a line formed.

They did have the photo op I put up at the start of this where you could make it look like you were in a painting.
They also let you fill out postcards with a "quill" pen.

But, you had to have stamps with you, and I did not.
The line to get in was only getting longer.

As we go to the museum fairly often, we didn’t stop to see much else.

Look a bench!

We did stop at the Nubian gold exhibit.
Lots of gold.

Then, back out into the sain. Or, is it rnow?

At least the roads weren’t too slippery.

And, it wasn’t as foggy as it had been.

We stopped on the way home for a Chinese food buffet we like.

In the afternoon it did clear up.

I won’t say it was a nice day, but it was sunny and no longer raining/snowing.

And, the moon was out.

Tomorrow is supposed to be cold. We’ll see how that goes at sword practice.

Date: 2016-01-17 05:52 am (UTC)The exhibit sounds nice. I need to go to the museum more often. Ours is having a Jurassic World type exhibit in the next couple of months, which we're going to try and get to.
