So, we headed out from Conwy Castle. We saw a home across the street for sale. That would be cool. All we need is to be independently wealthy and then we could buy it..

But, we kept going out through the walls of the city and down the north west corner of Wales.

Given the high winds (70mph/116kph) it was an "interesting" drive by the sea.

But, we got to Caernafon Castle.

We did see this sign for a place for lunch.

Makes me wonder about the Italian Food. We didn’t try it.

Caernafon is a very large castle that is still in pretty good shape.

And, benches!

One of the things I liked about this castle was it was big enough for me. That isn’t all that common in buildings 800 years old.

It was built by that "longshanks" fellow who also rattles around in my mother’s family tree. So, I guess he wanted a place he could walk too…

The castle is right along the Menai Straight, so you could see the water from several points of the castle. But, the castle seemed to be out of the worst of the wind.
I’m glad I wasn’t out on that water…

The castle is on an inlet where it wasn’t as bad.

Still, windy:

You could see the town well too.

I’m told there is an old Roman fort there too. But, we didn’t go to that.

Look! The 500th photo I’m posting about this trip:

They had some interesting stuff on the history of Wales and England and how they (didn’t) get along.

My wife and I got separated going through the tunnels. We spent some time texting each other and posting on facebook about where we were…

It seemed when I was on one wall, she was on another.

Or, I’d be in a tower and she’d be on the ground.

Or, I’d be on the ground and she’d be up a wall.

But, we did eventually meet up, go to the car and head off to the next castle…

i agree with "pretty good shape." actually looks like the building survived/could be renovated; like it actually held together well. very cool.

That is a really big castle. It looks like it was a lot of fun. =)

That is kind of neat you have a king in your family tree.
