Two weeks after that carpet cleaning scam woman tried to get into our home the police showed up to follow up on the report.
I guess it's good they followed up. But, two weeks means they aren't going to catch her...

"She probably wanted to get in, look around, and try and steal something," the officer said.
"Yeah, I knew that at the time," I replied.
"You shouldn't let people like that in."
"And, I did not."
"Several other folks reported similar incidents."
"I told you she tried other doorbells."
"The rental office says they're going to send out a notice telling everyone not to let people like that in."
"That's probably for the best."

"Did you know your complex front door was propped open?"
"The workmen are installing new carpet in the empty apartment next door."
"But, not cleaning it?"
"No, the folks who lived there moved out last week. They're getting it ready for the new folks to come in."
"You're sure?"
"They are actually putting down new carpet. I don't think thieves would do that."
"It's good you keep your eye on them."
