Every time I see the military moving a bunch of guns down the highway I wonder if they are off to fight Godzilla, aliens or some other science fiction menace.
Who knows, maybe they are? I'm not sure they'd let it be shown on the news...
Wow, that'd be interesting to see! We don't have any Army bases around here, so we never see troops or guns like that. We do have an air force field and a zeppelin... shed? whatever you call the giant building they keep it in when it's on the ground.
A lot of the bases around here have closed, so we don't see this soft of thing anywhere near as often as when I was a kid. But, they are still out there once in a while.
I think it is just called a hanger. Even for blimps and such...
There was a place in Frankfort off on the highway 64 that the ROTC/Reserves would practice their repelling. It was always odd to drive past so many uniforms repelling down a cliff on the highway. (But this was in 2001 so they might not do it now)
