Welcome to late fall in New England

It is 28F/-2C outside right now. I woke up to find everything in my apartment complex coated in ice and zero done with sand or salt about it.
The entire time I got ready for work a car was trying to get up the hill out of our apartment complex. When I walked out he had made it maybe 1 car length.
I watched another car slide down the same hill sideways with no control at all on the ice.
I came back upstairs and emailed my boss I’d be late as I physically can’t get out of my parking lot this morning.
It is supposed to get up to 42F/+5C with heavy rain and possible flooding by noon.
But, the ice will melt…
Winter officially starts in 9 1/2 days.

Date: 2014-12-09 02:09 pm (UTC)New ScotlandNova Scotia, too. I woke up yesterday and it was -7, and it's apparently been hitting -11 at nights! Luckily, it's just -0.5 right now...Drive safely! There was a bad truck accident on the big highway near where we live on Saturday, and we watched two cars slide off the road before we hit the proper highway, too. My brother and law and I also had to roll into a snow bank, because a big truck was covering the road out of nowhere and his brakes wouldn't kick in fast enough.
