Hollow promises

This time of year a lot of organizations are doing fund raising. As my
wife and I are members of a bunch of museums, and give money to a few other
things here and there, we get a lot of requests.

I got one today that really seemed a bit strained:


That’s right! If I send them $10 like I did last time, they won’t have to
ask me for the rest of the year for more!
That’s 28 more days! Think of all that time without them asking me for
more money!

And, I just gave them $10 last month, so it will be nice to go more than
once a month without being asked…
Oh, wait…

I understand they are crowd funded and need money. But, come on! Make a
better promise than won’t ask for money for the rest of the year when it is
already December!
That’s the sort of thing that makes me say “I don’t think so” when they ask.
