One of the advantages of the apartment where my wife and I live is it has two bathrooms. And, they are connected to the water pipes of two different buildings in the complex.

So, this morning when I got up and no hot water came out of the bathroom off of our bed room (connected to the pipes of building G next to us) I walked over to the other bathroom (connected to the pipes of building H where we live) and had a nice hot shower.

I’m sure that even though it is one of the biggest holidays in the US, some plumber is going to be called to come fix the building G hot water heater.
And, I don’t have to call them, pay them or probably even see them as they’ll be over in G.

I always got the impression that a flat with two full-sized bathrooms is rather rare, unless it's a very large flat!

Your situation is indeed very nice!

It is a fairly large place. And, apartments with two bathrooms are fairly rare.
So, you are right on both counts.

all the apartments have their own water heaters in our building. We were lucky and have a very large apartment (almost as big as my parent's house) but we still only have one bathroom. =(

I think Musesrealm made a very good decision to splurge on the place that has 2 bathrooms.

Aside from the obvious usage, it's been good for hanging clothes to dry, etc.

So, I am aware of the particular advantage you're referring to. Although, each apartment apparently has it's own
water heater, which is great but if one runs out, one has to wait for the water to re-fill and heat up. So,
showers going on in either bathroom will still have limited hot water. But, we have our own
heater/tank so I think that's good instead of having to share a single system between units.
*shrug*

That is really cool. I imagine living in an apartment would be pretty nice, we don't really have anything like them where I live but we do have groups of little houses sometimes joined at the walls.

I think that's really interesting that you have water from two different areas of the complex. Do you get two different water bills then?

Water is included in the rent, so we don't get any water bills.

so not based on consumption? you could use as much as you want but only pay your rent? wow.

Technically yes. But, if the water usage goes over normal they send in plumbers looking for leaks.
As we don't like them sending random plumbers into the apartment, so we don't use too much water.

That would never fly in Australia, but water is precious here .. we pay by usage.

Yeah...We have flooding problems. So in my part of the country it isn't as big of a deal.
