The drive down started well…

When the GWB came into sight, it was still OK.

But, just as we reached the bridge, they closed it. For 45 minutes.

They let all 4 lanes start going at the same time. People had been walking around on the bridge. The way they all ran to their cars looked like some sort of monster movie.
Sadly, we were moving by then so blurry photo.

Saturday morning we had been able to get a whole 5 hours of sleep before we had to set up.

The 200 or so folks who work the faire were supposed to be there at the same time…

In good news, our youngest member has returned from 10 months in Africa as a missionary.

(My family used to try that missionary stuff. One great to the whatever uncle was eaten in New Guinea for trying it there…)
John did much better than that.

But, the experience did seem to make him get on the wagon.

We were also happy that

Sadly for him he had some sort of awful cough that made it sound like his lung was going to shoot out and hit you at any time.
In my caring troupe leader way I kept telling him "don’t give it to the rest of us!"

In addition to us doing our historical combat shows, we were also part of the main plot of the day. I got to chase the baronesses around with a spear and then throw it at Palusbuteo.

Of course I was the only "bad guy" and everyone else was good.

Despite a bit of rain, it was still a pretty good first day.

At the end of the day, we locked up the tent and went off to dinner with everyone.

Sunday was a much nicer day. It is always nice to be at a hotel that is a 5 minute walk from your stage.

When the sun shines, you can see the sparkles from all the glass they grind into the road at the glass museum.
We always were good boots for this job.

Even the chicken won’t walk on the road.

There was a bird’s nest hanging right next to our tent.

We felt a bit bad about doing sword fights where we could hear the cheeping of the baby birds.

Not to mention the spears flying through the air.

But we saw the adult birds flying in and out when we weren’t close, so I guess they were OK.
Sunday they did do a great big cast photo as they always do. Some day I’d like to see one of those…

The witches seemed quite worried about us. Maybe they were right to worry.

As it was dry on Sunday, my wife and I used our expensive new swords that took 9 or so months to get.

This seemed to make my wife happy.

The drive home looked dramatic, but was slow.

But, it was still a fun job!

That's one huge nest!

We don't leave anything of value in it over night.

mentioned in previous years.
And yes, I'd like this faire much more and be more willing to go more often if the traffic didn't suck so bad.
