The real use of time travel isn't to go back and stop Booth or Oswald. Or shoot Hitler.
It isn't good for any of that. That stuff just won't work.

The best use is really to park you car on a hot summer day and bring it to the right time in a snow storm to be toasty warm.
Or, keeping it under the snow until you are on that hot day and need to be cooled off.

Wasteful?
Maybe.

But a toasty warm car is very nice when it is snowing out.
