Yes, that arrow is green

I was talking with one of the guys at work yesterday about the Arrow
program.
“I like it,” he said. “But, there is one thing that bothers me.
“If they’re going to do a show about an archer superhero, why don’t they do
a show about one of the ones that is from the comic books?
“I know they can’t use Hawkeye because of the Avengers, but why don’t they
use Green Arrow?”

“They do,” I said. “That’s what the show is about. It is the Green Arrow
show. They just took the green off the front of the name.”
“What?”
“Oliver Queen? That’s the name of Green Arrow in the comic books.”
“It is?”
“The Huntress, Slade, Shadow, Brother Blood, Black Canary and a bunch of
others used in the show are all from DC comics, the folks that put out
Green Arrow.”
“They are?”
“Not to mention The Flash being in the show for the last two weeks.”
“He was?”
“Barry Allen? The name of The Flash. We last saw him covered in chemicals
and struck by lightning, which is how The Flash got his powers in the comic
books.”
“It is?”
“Yes. It is a Green Arrow TV show with lots of tie ins to other characters
in the same universe.”
“I’ve been watching the show for two seasons complaining it isn’t a Green
Arrow show, when all the time it was?” he asked.
“That would seem to be the case.”

I'll admit that I didn't know that either, but I don't watch the show so I feel that I have a valid excuse. *grins*

I knew it was the Green Arrow show before it even premiered, once I saw the name Oliver Queen.

wow. I barely know any Comic characters and their alter egos. And I knew more about the show (and still haven't seen it) than this guy
claims and he's seen the whole seasons.

Well, that marks the difference between Joe Public and Comic Geeks right there I think.

Hee, hee, hee. So apparently that pan into the GREEN ARROW in the first episode of this season and all of the "A new character is coming -- IN A FLASH!" passed him by.

That said I don't think Green Arrow is known that well outside of comic books, and even there just with comic book readers, or with people who watched the Justice League cartoons, so not knowing the name "Oliver Queen" is possibly not that surprising. And a few people I know -- well, ok, one -- still insist that the only Flash is called Jay Garrick :) and the comics obsessed are telling me that the character we just saw should have been called Wally West.

....anyway, this just goes to prove my overall point that it will be perfectly ok to kill off Laurel or send her character into exile and no, the entire audience isn't expecting or needing her to become Black Canary.
