Things that bother a Frank
Nov. 22nd, 2013 08:44 amI had a conversation with one of the folks at work that I don’t know very
well that bothered me a lot.
We were discussing how something had not been done right. The person who
didn’t do it right is a woman who has been with us quite a while, but
normally does very good work and lots of people depend on her.
“I bet you just wanted to smack her,” this guy said.
I paused for a second to make sure I had not misheard.
“No,” I said. “I didn’t.”
That really bothered me. A lot.
That’s he’d think that would be OK. And, that he’d think I’d be OK with it
too.
This isn’t a guy I’ve worked with much and he has not been making a good
impression on me.
Maybe he meant it as a joke. People do joke about that sort of thing.
But, the way he said it didn’t seem like a joke.
And even so, not a joke I like.
I mostly wrote this to keep a record in case it is a trend.

Some men are just brought up to disrespect women. And it's a damn shame. Because it's so hard to break them of the habit once it gets ingrained. =(
