Those turkeys

This morning I saw a little bird flapping and flapping trying to get to a
tree in a strong headwind. It was practically hovering in place due to the
wind, but it really wanted to get to that tree and land.
It did make it. That made my happy. Lately I've felt like that bird.


When I went down to the break room at work and found 30 turkeys
swarming across the lawn outside.
That’s a lot of turkeys.


Some of them were quite large.


At first I thought they were going to go into the woods.


But, I guess they found the cars more compelling as they walked out into
the parking lot.


They seemed particularly interested in the trees in the parking lot, even
though they are not big trees.


There was something in them they were jumping up to try and get. Turkeys
jumping for things in branches of trees is a weird sight.


But, they gave up and all of them went across the street to the hotel. I
assume they are hiding out there until Thanksgiving is over.

I guess the bird made it to the tree eventually even though it took it a lot of energy to get there, but it did, against the odds. And so will you.

This is so cool. I'd love to see this in person. I've only seen wild turkeys once, while in CT and I had no idea that wild turkeys existed (god knows what I thought, I was a nutty 20 year old at the time). Anyway, i pulled over to try and rescue them, b/c as you know, wild turkeys need rescuing. My plan was to put them in my car. Imagine that chaotic mess. hah
