At the party Saturday night, [livejournal.com profile] brickhousewench gave us some tickets to the Connecticut Renaissance Festival.
She knows that I hate, hate, hate the guys who run it. So, she said it was OK to go and spit on the faire.

OK, that was worth the drive.

So, Sunday we drove off there.

The grounds are not the nicest for a faire. It’s on a hill and covered in stones.

We visited with [livejournal.com profile] brickhousewench, or her historical persona.

We envied their cookware.

Then, before I could spit, the Landsknechte showed up.

And, you just don’t spit with them around.

So, with a tear in our eye, not spit, we headed back home.

We stopped at a restaurant that was half a block from where we lived before we got married. I hadn’t been there since we moved in 1993, and was very surprised at the change.
Back then it was a pizza place with a small restaurant attached. Now it is an upscale restaurant and sports bar.

The food was good. But, had so much butter in it, my gums broke out. (Allergic to milk you know. Not just intolerant.)
But, the food was VERY good.

Then, over to Lois Lane to visit out comic book store and get our comics.

Not a bad day. Low key. But, given how tired I was from the day before, not a bad thing.

Thanks. Please do let me know if you figure it out!

Like, for Game Night I made 2 kinds of garlic bread, one with and one without cheese... but i didn't realize the butter was a problem, too. Sorry!

I bet a garlic bread with garlic-infused olive oil would be lovely....

As with so many things, it is a question of degree and how much it is cooked.
The more cooked the better.

So, butter in things isn't so bad unless I eat a whole lot of it.

Next time I make garlic bread for someplace you'll be, I'll use a mix of olive oil and clarified butter- so no milk solids- in at least half. :)
