Our first show was at the Castle Restaurant.

The Castle restaurant has a pretty view in the back lot.

Of course a lake in New England if fall doesn’t take much to look good.

My wife was very happy we got to use the cart.

She bought the cart a few years ago to carry our equipment, but it really doesn’t work off of the pavement. As most of our shows are in fields, we rarely get to use it.

As we got there before they opened, we practiced outside.

People less well insulated than I said the air was cool coming off of the lake.

Inside we found less room than expected.

Keep in mind both the folks in this photo are close to a foot shorter than I am.

We sat at the “New Jersey” table.

The restaurant won all sorts of awards when Mike Dukakis was governor. That was before he ran for president two dozen years ago.

So it was probably a great place then...

The wedding party showed up and all went well.

There was a butterfly motif going on.

This went as far as having a very large butterfly dancing.

The groom and his daughter were the first to take sword lessons from us.

But a couple of the other kids did join in.

Then we drove off west.

The trip was nice, but not so fast. There were a LOT of town fairs.

The drive is very scenic. More so than the highway. And, more direct.

Once we got to the UMass area, traffic got much worse.

The way they mark lanes there is strange.

The show was at the UMass Campus center. Not our group at the bottom.

Again, the cart!

Our show was on the 11th floor. I was glad for elevators.

We had the whole 11th floor.

Nice view.

There were balloons too.

Everyone was happy they were willing to feed us.

We did sword fighting. Others did juggling, lute playing, other musical playing and singing.

I’m not saying the director fell asleep...

It was a good time. A long day, but still fun.

The dancing butterfly person reminds me of Arthur/Moth Man from The Tick.
