Cupcakes, muffins and carpets
Aug. 18th, 2012 04:22 pmThursday my wife made cupcakes for the library picnic at her college on Friday.

I cheated and used the left over batter in my mini-cupcake maker.

(Yet another device that works better when you’re singing that factory music from the old Loony Toons cartoons.)
This morning I wanted to make muffins for breakfast. The pans had been soaking since Thursday night. But, I still had tremendous difficulty getting the chocolate out of them.

It was like an Edgar Allan Poe story.
I scrubbed and scrubbed, but it just wouldn’t come out.
My wife even used those paper bases for them, so it was very strange.
Eventually I gave up. If our blueberry muffins had a bit of chocolate in them, so what?
This afternoon I decided to break out that thing on which I spent my work bonus money.

That’s right a new carpet cleaner!
Yay!
A couple of months ago I threw out the one we got as a wedding present (in 1993) as it was literally falling apart.
So, time for a new one.
It does a great job with only one exception. It’s beaters spin against the carpet faster than its vacuum can pick stuff up. So, you get little balls of grit that build up behind it.

I’m pretty sure this is just because I haven’t shampooed the carpet in a few months. Even vacuums don’t get as much stuff as these.
And, it is MUCH easier than the old one to use. So, I am still very happy with it.
