Before going on about today’s adventures, I just want to say I really like this photo of my wife in front of the place we met in 1983...

Right, on to adventures...

It was another sunny and clear, if windy, day when we set off.

Some of our Phoenix Folks from CT had never been to the museums of Worcester, so today we brought them.
We started with the one on swords and armor.

We got there just before it opened. The woman working the front desk saw us standing there in the wind and let us in early. That was very kind of her.

The CT folks seemed quite interested in the armor.

I’m not sure why one took to trying to joust at women.

At least I think that’s what he’s doing. It isn’t totally clear.
Either way a virtual joust started.

Others went for the real lance.

I was looking more at Frankish culture.

What is Frankish culture?

Yep, brown lumps.
Sorry, but that’s what we Frank’s have...

My wife, [livejournal.com profile] morgan_lafaye and I had seen the “Arms and Armor” show more than enough times, so we just visited while the others went to the show.

My wife did point out the I.33 prototype sword she used to use in the demos we did there.

[livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo showed up and we were talking with David, who still works there, about how we used to really like doing the demos in the great hall, and you’d get class 1 audiences that were there to specifically look at the stuff you were doing and were really interested.

While we were doing this, a class 1 audience showed up.
West Point cadets on the museum tour, disappointed there was no demo today.

I pointed out to David (on the left) the our folks (on the right) could do the show if he just got us some swords. Maybe even just the ones off the wall...

But, it was not to be.

Being disappointed at not being able to perform for a class 1 audience in one of my favorite venues, we left and went to lunch.

Then, off to the Worcester Art Museum.

We were specifically pointing out examples of clothing from the time period of most of our shows.
The specific subject matter might not match, but the clothes do.

For example, this one of the holy family fleeing to Egypt.

OK, that doesn’t look like Egypt to me. And, I don’t remember angels serving snacks in the bible. But, if you just look at what they’re wearing, it is a good example of high class clothes at the time it was painted.

Some of our folks put feathers in their hats. They’ve got nothing on this guy.

Out CT people were very impressed.

I spent most of the time taking pictures of folks as did my wife.

(I find this picture funny as the mosaic next to me is the “Worcester Hunt”. There I am, the Shrewsbury Hunt, next to it...)

Some people wanted to do more than look at the art, they wanted to do some of their own...

Eventually, we were all tired and decided to head home.

At the gift shop I was forced to wonder what a “Dark Chocolate Flavored” chocolate calculator would taste like...

My wife and I headed off to Wegmans...

Although neither of us are fond of the place, it worked out well this time. As I came out and put my carriage in the coral, the person putting one in on the other side was our old neighbor who I haven’t seen in several years.
He, his wife and daughter moved out several years ago, and we lost their contact information.
So, it was very nice to see them again. He gave me his email again and I have already written to him so I don’t lose it again.

All in all, a pretty good day!

J really likes Wegman's. It helps that it's less than 5 min from our house... and they're good with weird cheeses.

(I still haven't been. The shame!)
